About the Campaign
K9 Miles is a 2.5-year-old Beagle/Hound mix certified in Narcotics. He is assigned to Sergeant John Vogt of the Ocean City, NJ Police Department. Miles was rescued from a shelter in Tennessee and, on the long road trip back to Ocean City, Miles and the Sergeant formed their bond. He loves to play fetch and has fun stealing bones from his brother Bandit, a German Shepherd, and his sister, Roxy, a Black Lab mix. K9 Miles loves to pose for the camera and will bring a smile to anyone’s face when he’s around.
Here’s how this equipment grant would help Miles and Sgt. Vogt on the job:
The door pop allows the K9 handler officer to remotely unlatch the door so their K9 may exit the squad car and come to their aid, should a call for service take a turn for the more dangerous; while, the heat alarm system monitors the interior air temperature of the squad car and sets off the sirens, lights, alarms, and rolls down the windows of the car to help ensure that a K9 doesn’t suffer from heat trauma if the temperature rises into a dangerous threshold.
The Ranger K9 Trauma Kit provides sterile, veterinary grade, K9-specific supplies to assist an officer in providing aid to their K9 in the event of an on-the-job incident or injury. This kit includes a canine oxygen mask, along with other first aid items, a quick reference sheet for K9 vitals and dosing, and comes in a heavy-duty, canvas bag that is embroidered with emblems ensuring that it is easily identifiable for K9 use.
NOTE: The funds collected as part of this fundraiser will be allocated to the agency’s Equipment Grant Application with Hero K9 for their K9. Should the application status change and/or if donations received are in excess of the goal amount, donations will be directed to the organization’s general fund to provide additional equipment grants and cover operational costs and/or other business-related expenses.
